The President of the United States, Donald Trump, declared this Thursday that he is weighing launching a "massive attack" against Iran, which would be larger than the one that began this past February 28 and which led to the current war.
In a brief telephone interview with the digital newspaper Axios, the American president explained that he has not yet made a definitive decision regarding the matter.
"I am considering a massive attack. Bigger than ever. I am close to making a decision. We are all prepared," said the president.
Trump expressed confidence that Israel "would join in two minutes" if he asked it to, although he noted that the United States does not need anyone to launch an operation against the Islamic Republic.
The American leader asserted that the Iranians "want to negotiate" a nuclear deal that puts an end to the conflict, although he considers that they are not yet prepared for a pact: "They haven't suffered enough yet," he expressed.
Last month, Washington and Tehran signed a memorandum of understanding to establish a ceasefire, unblock the Strait of Hormuz, and provide space for negotiations on the Iranian nuclear program, but the truce was broken and both countries have been exchanging crossfire for two weeks.
