The multinational company Nestlé has recalled several batches of infant formula due to the potential presence of cereulide toxin in products distributed in Mexico, Brazil, Paraguay, and more than 25 European countries.

In a statement issued by Nestlé Mexico, it was reported that the precautionary measure applies to four batches of NAN powdered infant milk in 400-gram containers.

  • NAN ALFAMINO: lote 52030017Y2 (fecha de vencimiento 22/07/2027)

"This recall is a voluntary precautionary measure due to the possible presence of cereulide—a toxin produced by the microorganism Bacillus cereus—in one of the ingredients from a supplier that was used in the affected batches," they stated.

They warned that those who have purchased products from the aforementioned batches should not feed them to minors, and in case of any concerns regarding the infant's health, they should consult their doctor or pediatrician.

Additionally, they provided a customer service line for product returns: 800 737 6262.

Países donde Nestlé retiró fórmula infantil por posible contaminación

In the case of Brazil, the measure affects products sold under five brands belonging to the Swiss multinational, including Nestogeno and Nanlac, a statement from the institution noted.

Nestlé has already voluntarily begun the recall of these products worldwide, in European countries such as:

  • Reino Unido
  • Italia
  • Francia

This follows the detection of the toxin in formula produced at a factory in the Netherlands.

Furthermore, consumers of the affected brands were warned to check the batch number of products before purchasing.

Meanwhile, Nestlé has not reported any cases of "any illness associated with the consumption of this product" to date and reiterated that the rest of its products not included in this voluntary precautionary recall are safe for consumption.
