The controversy arose after an encounter with the media went viral, in which Toñita spoke about Carlos Rivera and Cynthia Rodríguez. According to the circulating video, the celebrity commented that she did not have the authority to "out" anyone, adding that Cynthia "knew things that she would take to the grave."

"I have the same idea as Juan Gabriel, 'what is seen is not judged'," "She knows, she knows things, sister, she knows things, and what she knows she will take to the grave, and what I know I will take to the grave... we both know," and "If Carlitos is [or] isn't, that's his business," were some of the controversial statements made by the Veracruz native.
These words caused a stir on social media, and a few hours ago, Carlos Rivera shared a message on his Instagram account: it is a post from the program Radio4 RNE, where he was interviewed about his music and his album, titled VIDA.
In the video he posted on his social media, Rivera says: "I have made music to defend love in every sense and in all its manifestations, because I do believe that today we live in times where it seems that hating is in fashion."
He continued: "There are people who see love almost as something fleeting, as something like, 'today I'm with you and tomorrow, who knows'." Although he did not directly mention his former reality show castmate, his words have been interpreted by many of his followers as a firm response to Toñita.
Carlos Rivera, who has always kept his private life away from the spotlight, referred to the meaning of his work and his stance on the topic of love. While Toñita generated a wave of criticism for commenting on the private lives of Rivera and Rodríguez, the message from the La Academia winner has been applauded by his followers.
So far, neither Carlos Rivera nor Cynthia Rodríguez has issued an official statement regarding Toñita's declarations.
