In an interview with the Mexican press, Marcelo Córdoba asserted that a large part of the hatred that Argentines received after the 2026 World Cup final came from Mexico.
"A lot of the hate came from Mexico and that was what surprised me, but deep down I am thinking that this World Cup only gave the perfect excuse to many people who already had a certain sentiment against Argentines here in Mexico to be able to throw out whatever they said without any kind of guilt and sheltered by that wave of hate that existed," he expressed.
However, the actor also acknowledged that the statements by Argentine journalist Eduardo Feinmann, which were even mentioned during President Claudia Sheinbaum's morning conference, contributed to increasing the tension between fans of both countries.
"I agree, the Feinmann thing was terrible. He apologized too; he went too far. Sometimes we don't help either with our attitudes...".
Córdoba insisted that it is not right to judge an entire country by the actions or comments of a few people.
"At this point, it is the whole world against Argentina, which is wrong because generalizations are bad. It's like if I said that all Mexicans are criminals, as already happened with Trump and you felt very hurt and also very wounded by that because we generalize badly. You are good people, hardworking, just like Argentines. Yes, there are arrogant, boastful, mocking Argentines, and there are open, hardworking Argentines."

When asked about some Argentines who consider themselves European, Marcelo Córdoba replied that it is a perception that certain people have due to the ethnic composition of the country, although he reminded them that Argentina is part of Latin America.
"Do you know what happens? Many Argentines, because of the ethnic composition that Argentines have, well, they feel they belong to Europe because they are mostly descendants of Spaniards, Italians... and Germans too, and Jews too. They feel they belong to Europe, but come on, it's an illusion they like to have. Well, let them have their illusions. Argentina is in Latin America."
