The controversy surrounding Fátima Bosch and her victory as Miss Universe seems endless. In the midst of the alleged lawsuit filed against her by Nawat Itsaragrisil for defamation and her ongoing press tour, the new beauty queen walked out of an interview with Telemundo. What happened?
The young Mexican woman appeared on Telemundo's show 'Pica y se extiende,' where the conversation with the hosts became uncomfortable due to questions regarding events at the pageant: the lawsuit, the manner of her win, why Miss Ivory Coast did not win due to visa issues, and more, eventually leading her to leave the studio.

From the start, Fátima was bombarded with questions about the surrounding controversy: host Carlos Adyan asked her a direct question about Miss Ivory Coast and her opinion on why she was not chosen as Miss Universe because her passport did not facilitate international travel.
Fátima replied: 'I don't know the rules in depth regarding what the organization was looking for this year or what factors they consider. But everyone should have the same opportunities to win regardless of their passport. However, as an organization, it is a business and it is a job... If you have to travel the world, it's obvious they need someone who can travel easily.'

Later in the interview, host Lourdes Stephen asked her about the controversies surrounding the pageant, including the freezing of bank accounts belonging to Raúl Rocha, owner of the Miss Universe Organization.
With an evidently uncomfortable expression, Fátima replied: 'Miss Universe is a dream. I have nothing to do with those things. My job is to be a voice for women. I don't think my participation should be linked to any external issues that may exist.'
Likewise, the beauty queen lamented that all the controversy is overshadowing her victory and the social work she began after her coronation: 'I feel that morbid curiosity will always give people something to talk about. Sadly, we live in a society devoid of values where I believe it is still bothersome to see a woman win cleanly and achieve merit on her own.'

Following this, Adyan defended his interview, stating that he had to ask those questions due to the context and the subject matter directly affecting her.
Regarding Nawat's lawsuit, Fátima denied its validity and noted that she had not been notified of the director's alleged legal actions in Thailand: 'Well, the truth is I don't have any lawsuit, and I wouldn't like to talk about that topic. I haven't defamed anyone; I haven't said anything that isn't true. What I do believe is that this is a topic that, as you say, is being talked about, but we need to turn the page because there are simply more important things to talk about, like the empowerment of real women and what is being done to support women and social causes,' said Bosch.
Miss Universe abandoned the interview and reportedly canceled other commitments she had with the network. 'Well, folks, in our first segment we mentioned that Fátima would continue with us on the show, but that did not happen. Fátima has left after the interview and we hope to see her on the other programs as we had coordinated,' pointed out Lourdes Stephen.
For his part, Carlos Adyan noted that Fátima left the studio, leaving her participation in the show incomplete.
'In the end, she got up from the interview, and we really didn't know she had left the studio until they indicated to us that she was not going to participate in this segment because she decided to leave the premises,' he noted.
According to the hosts, Fátima was supposed to continue participating in the show to celebrate her win, and there was even a mariachi performance planned in her honor. As part of the arrangements for her participation in 'Pica y se extiende,' the production had secured transport for her; however, she decided to take an Uber and leave the location.
Likewise, Fátima had other commitments scheduled with the network throughout the week, which she reportedly canceled after leaving the interview.
Within minutes of the conversation, Adyan became the target of criticism and mockery on social media for the 'malicious' interview he conducted with Bosch: 'Bad interviewer,' 'Once again Fátima speaking up,' 'Fátima putting you in your place,' 'Why don't you talk about how you got to Telemundo?', 'A Mexican sugar daddy who gave you your career supports you and everyone knows it, don't you forget it,' are some of the comments circulating on his Instagram posts.
