While the Argentine was seen crying on the pitch with the rest of the national team, Antonela went viral on social media for leaving the stadium before everyone else with a visibly affected expression.
Without offering statements to the press regarding the controversial match, the model, dressed in the Argentina shirt, headed with her children to her vehicle accompanied by an entourage of security guards; Messi did so later with the rest of the players.
After the match, Antonela dedicated a message to her husband expressing her pride and love: “You will always be the best @leomessi (...) I admire you more than words can express and I feel immensely proud to walk this life by your side”.

Since her public appearance and the Instagram post, Antonela has shown no signs of life on her social networks or in front of the cameras. This fact has raised curiosity among her fans, as the celebrity is usually quite active on her accounts, sharing photographs, stories, and advertising campaigns for the brands she works with.
According to reports from the British tabloid Daily Mail, the businesswoman and influencer has been “inconsolable” due to her husband's defeat, and a sign of this was the image she presented after the final whistle of the match.
As far as is known, Antonela and Messi returned to Rosario, Argentina, where they both have their families. The couple traveled separately from the rest of the figures of their national team.
AP reported that Messi traveled from Miami to Buenos Aires to meet with the footballer's father, Jorge Messi, in the residential community of Funes, in Rosario, who has been in delicate health.
Upon their arrival in Argentina, neither of the two celebrities was seen in public or gave statements about the end of the World Cup. In fact, it is claimed that Messi stood up his fans who waited for him at the airport and those who attended the welcome for the national team.
