Cape Verdean goalkeeper Vozinha, who became popular during the World Cup for his outstanding performances, stated this Thursday that he wishes to continue playing for one or two more years, as long as his physical condition allows it, but only if it is to contribute as a footballer and not for marketing reasons, he told the CBS channel.
"I hope to find a team that really wants me for what I can contribute as a footballer, not as a marketing figure," the popular goalkeeper stated to the CBS channel when asked about the rumors linking him to Inter Miami.
The 40-year-old goalkeeper, whose first name is Josimar José Évora Dias, insisted that his passion for the sport remains intact. "That's the first thing I want to resolve because I love football," he affirmed.
"To be here at 40 years old... and since I really feel that passion, I want to play for at least one or two more years; it will depend on how my body responds, because you never know what will happen tomorrow, but I want to play," he assured.
The athlete recalled how difficult it is to achieve international visibility in his country.
"I think that since I was born and since I was a child I always had the dream of being a professional player. In our country, the possibilities of becoming a professional in sports are minimal," indicated the athlete, who achieved global visibility with the Cape Verde national team in the 2026 World Cup.
He underscored how complex it is to stand out due to bureaucratic hurdles, which delayed the start of his professional career until he was 25. "First of all, you have to fight to get a visa; that is the very first thing," he recalled.
