2026 brings new travel opportunities, and if your destination is the United States, you will need to process the B1/B2 American tourist visa. This document remains essential for those planning to visit the country for tourist or business purposes.
The process is not identical to previous years. In 2025, there were significant changes—especially in payment methods and delivery—that are worth knowing to avoid setbacks.
¿El costo de la visa americana cambia en 2026?
As of now, there is no official figure indicating an increase. The cost of the American visa in 2026 is as follows:
$185 dollars per application (category B1/B2).
This payment does not guarantee approval: the final decision depends on the consular officer during the interview, who will evaluate your financial situation, personal information, and travel intentions.
Tarifa reducida para menores de 15 años
Children under 15 can pay $15 dollars if they meet any of these requirements:
- El padre/madre o tutor es mexicano y solicita una visa B1/B2 al mismo tiempo.
- El padre/madre o tutor es mexicano y ya tiene una visa válida por 10 años.
Validity based on payment:
If $15 USD is paid for a minor's visa: valid for 10 years or until the minor turns 15 (whichever occurs first).
If the full $185 USD fee is paid: valid for 10 years from the date of issuance.
¿Cuesta lo mismo por primera vez y por renovación?
Yes: you always pay the equivalent of $185 dollars.
The difference is that upon renewal, you might be able to waive the consular interview if you complete the process within 12 months after your previous visa expires.
Costos de entrega de la visa (2026)
Since 2025, there is a cost for shipping if you choose to receive the visa at your home or at a DHL branch:

- $320 MXN para recoger en una sucursal de DHL.
- Sin costo si decides recogerla en el CAS.
