Complaints against Ticketmaster during the sale of tickets for BTS concerts in Mexico have escalated; the Armys, the name of the Korean group's Mexican fandom, have launched a petition against the ticketing company.
"We demand that Ticketmaster OCESA be removed from ticket sales in Mexico," is the central demand published on January 23rd, one day after the official pre-sale in our country.
Since the petition was shared on change.org, more than 187,000 signatures have been collected, also calling for a stop to ticket resellers.
Armys vs revendedores en México
The petition promoted by Alma Aguilar recounts her bad experience while trying to buy her ticket to attend one of the three concerts that BTS will perform at the GNP Seguros Stadium, located in Mexico City.
"During the purchase, I faced all kinds of irregularities. The virtual queue was full of glitches, the website had constant errors, ticket prices increased inexplicably at the time of purchase, and when I finally managed to enter, the platinum tickets were already sold out."
"To make matters worse, immediately after the official sale, there was already a massive resale of these tickets at exaggerated prices online. I can't help but feel that all of this was planned," the K-pop fan reported.
Given this, she called on Mexican authorities to "take measures" against Ticketmaster and to implement "stricter regulations on transparency and ethics in ticket sales."
Hundreds of Armys are leaving their comments on the Change.org petition in support of the position.
On the other hand, Facebook groups for this fandom are encouraging members not to buy tickets from resellers, as well as to file formal complaints with the Federal Consumer Prosecutor's Office (Profeco).
The federal leader acknowledged that, during the weekend when the general sale for BTS concert tickets opened, there were complaints regarding the lack of clarity in the purchasing process.
In addition, Profeco announced that once ticket sales conclude, it will initiate a process to fine Ticketmaster.
They will also implement a series of measures to regulate the promotion, sale, and distribution of tickets for concerts, mass events, and festivals.
This comes after the BTS fandom has shown reluctance to acquire tickets via resellers.
