Following the stir caused by the announcement of the upcoming BTS concerts in Mexico, the Federal Consumer Prosecutor's Office (Profeco) reported this Monday that it will initiate an infringement process against Ticketmaster due to the lack of clarity in the ticket pricing for this event and will establish guidelines to regulate mass entertainment events presented in our country.

"An infringement procedure against the law will be initiated against Ticketmaster, due to the lack of clarity in the information provided to consumers," reported César Escalante, head of the agency, during the morning conference at the National Palace.

Profeco explained that following reports from fans of the Korean group, known as ARMYs, regarding the uncertainty surrounding the cost of admission tickets to see BTS at the GNP Seguros Stadium next May, a verification process was initiated.

Among these measures, it was initially "urged that Ticketmaster inform in advance the cost and location of each of the tickets."

However, in light of complaints on social media regarding the lack of clarity in the cost of tickets for the BTS concerts, Profeco clarified that the infringement procedure will begin "after the sale" of tickets for this event.

Likewise, it announced that from now on, guidelines will be established to regulate mass spectacles, festivals, and concerts.

¿Cuál es la regulación que va a implementar Profeco a los eventos masivos en México?

The Consumer Prosecutor's Office announced its strategy to regulate the "advertising, information, and sale of tickets."
