Taken by surprise, one of the cameras moved abruptly as two men approached to see what had happened.

However, Supertv55 later issued a statement confirming the death of Mario Ureña.

"Supertv55 (Channel 55) deeply regrets the passing of Mr. Mario Ureña, founder and president of the Ruta Urbana S.O., who departed suddenly while participating in our program El Café de Diario 55

"We extend our most sincere condolences to his family, his colleagues at Ruta S.O., his friends, and the entire transport sector of Santiago, which today mourns this irreparable loss," reads the obituary published on their social media.

Local media reports indicate that the transport leader supposedly suffered a heart attack during the live broadcast.

A photo was also circulated, showing a team of paramedics examining Ureña in the same spot where he was sitting on the television set.

It is worth mentioning that Mario Ureña had attended El Café de Diario 55 accompanied by lawyer Pantaleón Nieses to talk about a conflict within the region's transport sector.

The founder of the Ruta Urbana Santiago Oriente had been participating in the interview for nearly half an hour until the sudden moment occurred, when the host cut the broadcast by asking to go to commercial break.
