Singer Antonia Salazar Zamora, better known as Toñita, a former participant in the first season of La Academia, has once again sparked controversy after making explosive statements about her former reality show castmate Carlos Rivera and his wife, Cynthia Rodríguez. With the phrases “What is seen is not judged” and “We are no one to force anyone out of the closet,” the Veracruz native generated thousands of comments and reignited rumors regarding the couple’s marriage.
During an encounter with the press, Toñita was asked about the persistent rumors surrounding the personal life of 39-year-old Carlos Rivera, to which she responded with a series of phrases that, far from clarifying, fueled further speculation. In her conversation with the media, she asserted that she has known Rivera since his early days when he was “a baby.”

Subsequently, when questioned further, she stated: “I have the same idea as Juan Gabriel, ‘what is seen is not judged,’” before mentioning that she and Cynthia know many things. “She knows, she knows things, sister, she knows things, and what she knows she will take to the grave, and what I know I will take to the grave… we both know,” she asserted.
Later, she added: “We are no one to force anyone out of the closet,” a phrase that quickly went viral on social media. Finally, she commented that no one is a judge to criticize the lives of others: “If Carlitos is [gay] or isn’t, that’s his business… if Cynthia did or didn’t do something, that’s her business.”
In front of the media, Toñita claimed that she knows more secrets that she has yet to share, making it clear that she possesses significant and controversial information.
Toñita’s statements ignited social media, reopening the debate surrounding the "Recuérdame" singer: “It's good she didn't want to say anything,” “Too bad, she basically outed him,” “She didn't say anything and yet said it all, hahaha,” “It’s something everyone rumors about,” “Why don't they sue her,” “Why does she care,” and “And if it's true, so what?” were some of the comments.
