On social media, an alleged assault against a user of the Mexico City Metro by an officer of the Banking and Industrial Police (PBI) is causing outrage, as the user asked for help to get through the turnstiles with a wheelchair and the agent called her a "moron." What happened? We tell you here.
A video that has gone viral on TikTok and X exposes the dispute between a user and a police officer at the Observatorio station on Line 1 of the Collective Transportation System (STC) Metro.
According to reports, the events took place on February 1st. Apparently, the officer intimidated the user who, together with a companion, had requested support to access the Metro with a wheelchair.
"That you are too stupid to pass your wheelchair is another thing," the officer can be heard saying. "I'm not going to stop recording, you are intimidating me," the user responds. "Who is intimidating you? Upload your video wherever you want so they can see that you are a moron," the police officer replies.

Later in the video, it appears that the agent approaches the user and seems to make a movement against her. "Are you hitting her?" questions another person.
In the images, other PBI officers can be seen approaching the conflict zone while the allegedly affected person says that she asked for help to pass with a chair through the turnstiles and that the police officer began to intimidate her, leading her to start recording "for her safety."
"We just wanted to pass the chair, we paid our fare and that's it," the affected woman recounted before boarding the train.
After the incident went viral, the Banking and Industrial Police reported that the two affected people tried to access the station without respecting the line, which is why the officer asked them to wait their turn. Allegedly, the request annoyed the users, and they were the ones who began the verbal and physical aggression against the police officer.
"Subsequently, one of the complainants kicked the police officer's shins twice, and while trying to stop her, the other user hit her from behind."
The PBI report notes that, following the incident, the General Directorate of Internal Affairs of the Secretariat of Citizen Security (SSC) of Mexico City initiated an investigation into the officer's actions.
Although the PBI defended the officer, the case caused outrage on social media due to the "lack of tolerance" for people with disabilities in facilities and services such as the CDMX Metro.
Internet users questioned the PBI's response since, as evidenced in the video, there was no line to access the station. Furthermore, they pointed out that people in wheelchairs or in any state of disability "or with reduced mobility have priority," so they can access the station without the need to stand in line or go through the turnstiles.
