The Tamaulipas Attorney General's Office continues its investigation into the femicide of Dafne Zapata Quintos, 13, while the adolescent's mother, Alejandra Quintos Martínez, has retracted the statements in which she defended Danna Yanina 'N', considering her innocent and "another victim."
In a video shared on her social media, Quintos explained why she changed her stance on Danna, who was linked to the proceedings last Tuesday for her alleged involvement in the teenager's death at the Marina Doenitz militarized academy in Tamaulipas.
Initially, Quintos considered Danna another victim of the academy's staff and the violent practices that have been reported in recent days following Dafne's death. However, after a thorough review of the investigation file, she found evidence that Danna Yanina 'N' was indeed involved in the teenager's femicide.
"I made that video because Danna Yanina's family spoke to my mother, telling her that she was another victim. If she suffered just like my daughter, I was going to raise my voice for both of them," said Quintos in her recent post.
After reviewing the investigation file, Alejandra Quintos noted that her opinion regarding Danna and her alleged responsibility in the case had changed because she found significant evidence confirming her participation in the crime.
"I checked that investigation file meticulously and, unfortunately, there is a lot of evidence implicating Miss Danna Yanina. It caused me a lot of dismay," the victim's mother commented, emphasizing that she made her statements about Danna without knowing the details of the file and the recent evidence collected.
In the video, Alejandra directly asks Danna to speak about what happened in the death of Dafne and accept responsibility for her alleged participation: "Danna Yanina, if you are completely innocent, speak up."
In addition to this, Alejandro Quintos gave details of the first hearing held on the femicide case, stating that she had to leave the courtroom because it was explained how her daughter was tortured to death at the militarized academy she had attended for a summer camp.
After leaving the hearing and leaving the case in the hands of Dafne's father, Alejandra returned home, where her mother informed her that Danna's family had contacted her to talk about her innocence and claim that she was "another victim" of the staff at the location.
Given this, Alejandra made a video in which she spoke of a possible innocence on the part of the accused, but after reviewing the file, her opinion changed and both statements are now part of the investigation.
