Authorities in Mexico City have called on fans attending the Angel of Independence to celebrate the Mexico vs. England match to avoid participating in viral challenges known as "Juan Escutia" and "Wanna Fly", due to the high risk they pose to physical safety.
During the presentation of the special security operation for the 2026 World Cup Round of 16 match, Mexico City's Secretary of Integrated Risk Management and Civil Protection, Myriam Urzúa, asked attendees to act responsibly and not endanger their safety during the celebrations.

The official explained that these types of viral challenges often occur during mass celebrations and can lead to serious accidents.
For this reason, she urged the public not to participate in the "Juan Escutia" and "Wanna Fly" challenges, and to avoid any behavior that poses a risk to themselves or others.

As part of the recommendations issued by Mexico City's Civil Protection, fans were also asked to avoid:
- Subirse a los monumentos en Avenida Reforma.
- Escalar postes, semáforos o mobiliario urbano.
- Trepar a estaciones o estructuras del transporte público.
- Colgarse de estructuras metálicas.
- Realizar maniobras peligrosas para obtener fotografías o videos.
Authorities reminded the public that these types of actions increase the risk of falls and injuries during events with large gatherings of people.
Operativo especial por el México vs Inglaterra
The recommendations were issued during the announcement of the operation to be implemented by the Mexico City government for the Mexico vs. England match, which will be played on Sunday, July 5.
The operation includes the deployment of 40,000 public servants, including 17,000 police officers, as well as Civil Protection, Fire Department, and Health personnel, in addition to the installation of 62 giant screens along Paseo de la Reforma so fans can follow the match safely.
Additionally, access to the Angel of Independence will be reinforced, with video surveillance monitoring and medical attention available at key gathering points.

Civil Protection asked attendees to follow the authorities' instructions, respect access checkpoints, and avoid behaviors that could put their lives or the lives of others at risk.
The goal of the operation is for fans to enjoy the match between Mexico and England and any subsequent celebrations in a safe and orderly environment, avoiding accidents derived from viral challenges or high-risk actions.
