Niurka has been the talk of the town in recent hours after claiming that the illness of host Yolanda Andrade was caused by witchcraft. What did the vedette say? We tell you the details below.
According to her response during a brief encounter with the press, Niurka, based on her knowledge of Santería, believes that the deterioration in Yolanda Andrade's health due to Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS) and trigeminal neuralgia is due to witchcraft work being practiced on her or is a matter of "karma."
"Yes, I think it's a lot of that. From her energy, from her mind, from what she kept bottled up. From what she allowed herself to see and not speak out about," the Cuban star commented when asked by the press for her opinion on Andrade and whether her illness was due to some kind of "spellwork."
This is not the first time there has been talk of Santería work against the host. In 2023, while she was experiencing the first symptoms of her incurable illnesses, Yolanda herself said she believed she had been cursed.
In an interview, Yolanda said: "They started telling me: 'You have a curse, a form of witchcraft, a spell.' What did I have to do for someone to wish for my death?" In separate statements, the host told the press that she knew who was doing said work and that she had already asked them to "leave her alone"; at that time, Andrade did not want to reveal any names.
"I didn't believe it. There are things that are hard to believe, but that doesn't mean they don't exist," she said, adding that she had known "a witch, a real witch, she would pass by my house on a broomstick and one day I asked her as a favor to just leave me alone with that, that it wasn't right," she said.
"I'm not going to give names for anything. I told you there was a witch. There is a little witch out there… She does have a name, of course…," she pointed out.
What illnesses does Yolanda Andrade have?
Yolanda Andrade has faced serious health problems in recent years, being diagnosed with two serious and incurable illnesses.
At the beginning of 2023, the host revealed that she suffers from a cerebral aneurysm, a delicate condition that consists of the abnormal dilation of an artery in the brain and which has caused symptoms such as photophobia (sensitivity to light) and severe headaches.
Subsequently, at the end of 2025, she confirmed that she was diagnosed with Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS), a progressive neurodegenerative disease that affects the motor neurons that control voluntary muscles, which has caused her difficulties in speech and mobility.
In addition to this, it has been reported that she suffers from trigeminal neuralgia, a condition that causes episodes of intense facial pain. Due to this history, Yolanda Andrade's health has been a source of constant concern for the public and her loved ones.
Almost at the same time as Niurka's statements about her health, Yolanda commented to Thalía, during a live broadcast, that her doctor gave her a prognosis of a year and a half to live.
"How fortunate I am, that I know I can die," she said, and noted: "I have a lot of time to do many things. A year and a half."
