The return of Harry and Meghan Markle to the UK is imminent, and it is also a "slap in the face" to Prince William, who has avoided them at all costs during the six years the Sussexes lived in the United States after abandoning their positions in the Crown.
After it was revealed that the Duke and Duchess already have plans to return with their children, Archie and Lilibet, before the end of the month and will settle in a private residence on the outskirts of London, a source close to the situation revealed to Page Six that the heir to the British throne is not happy at all, especially because he refuses to reconcile with his brother.
“It is a tremendous slap in the face for William and also poses serious risks for the monarchy,” noted royal expert Tom Sykes. “What will happen if Charles invites Harry to join the royal family for Christmas? What will happen if Harry wants to attend Remembrance Day commemorations?” he questioned, adding that the prince's return to the UK will represent a series of challenges for William.
In addition to this, the expert believes that Charles may have been manipulated into accepting his son and daughter-in-law back, and that instead, Queen Elizabeth would never have agreed after the couple damaged the image of the Crown in the media with their multiple comments and accusations in interviews, documentaries, and in Harry's memoir, Spare.

“The surprise return of Harry and Meghan has probably left William furious,” Peter Hunt commented in an interview. “Their return home will make it more difficult for his brother to avoid a reconciliation,” he added, noting that William will be forced to reach out to Harry after avoiding him for years.
In a separate interview with the Daily Mail, expert Richard Fitzwilliams has described the Sussexes' return to the UK as “an extremely serious situation,” given that Harry could be taking advantage of Charles and his cancer diagnosis to obtain forgiveness and gain easier access to the royal family.
He also asserts that for Harry, being able to return now is an opportunity for acceptance, as when his brother reaches the throne, his chances will be very limited: “What he has done is clearly choose King Charles’ reign to carry out this plan, knowing that his options could be very limited when, and if, William becomes king.”
At the beginning of the year, it was reported that William had activated his communications team after there was talk of his brother's possible return and meetings with King Charles at the palace.
At the time, royal experts pointed out that William was anticipating any scandal that Harry and his family might bring with them, as he wants to protect the image of the Crown in the face of the multiple controversies generated by the statements of the Duke and Duchess of Sussex.
He has also been in talks with the King to prevent him from giving them one of the monarchy’s residences upon their return or involving them in institutional matters, given that he is no longer a working member.
