In fact, it is known that he inherited his talent and love for music from his father Roberto Pulido, who was also a Tejano music artist, and from his mother Diana Montez, daughter of the Norteño musician Mario Montez.
He conquered both sides of the border in the 90s and 2000s with hits like Desvelado, Enséñame, and Llegaste a mi vida. His musical style combined traditional Texas sounds with Mexican, polka, and American country influences.
This mixture helped bring Tejano music to new generations and made him one of the most recognized performers of the genre. His career also received international recognition: in 2022, he won the Latin Grammy for Best Tejano Music Album for "Para que baile mi pueblo".
Bobby Pulido was in love with Selena Quintanilla
Behind his musical career and now his new milestone as a representative for Texas District 15, there is also an anecdote that sparks curiosity about the musician's life: his connection with Selena Quintanilla, whom he met when he was young.
One of the most curious anecdotes from his youth is his relationship with Selena Quintanilla. Both crossed paths from a young age because their families were part of the same music circuits in Texas.
Roberto Pulido's group ended up sharing stages with Selena y Los Dinos, so Bobby had the opportunity to meet the singer before she reached international fame.
In several interviews, the singer has recalled that Selena was his platonic love and said that, some time later, A.B. Quintanilla revealed to him that his sister had felt an attraction to him. Although the story fueled the curiosity of both artists' fans, there was never a romantic relationship between them.
The song "Desvelado" has also been linked to Selena; on multiple occasions it has been said that Pulido dedicated that composition to her, but the singer himself has said that the track was not written for her and he did not even write it himself, as it is the work of songwriter Jorge Avena.
Bobby Pulido faces Trump and wins in Texas
The singer was recently a topic of conversation after Donald Trump criticized him and mocked his candidacy for the U.S. House of Representatives.
During the race for a seat in Congress, Trump addressed Pulido through social media and labeled him a "radical left Democrat who opposes no tax on tips, no tax on overtime, and no tax on Social Security, and if he and the Democrats ever got into power, all these things would be ended," he noted.
"He wants massive tax hikes, open borders, men playing in women's sports, and transgender mutilation of your children. Bobby Pulido is reckless, radical, and dangerous!" he added.
