According to close sources, the celebrities reconnected in January 2020, after greeting each other in front of the cameras during the SAG Awards held in Hollywood, with smiles and warm hugs. This meeting was the first in public since they divorced in 2005.
In a recent report, the Daily Mail noted that the actors exchanged phone numbers back then and that Brad Pitt began seeking her out on set and frequently invited her to lunch.
“Both had new numbers, so they exchanged them and said they would stay in touch. Brad was the first to send a message,” the insider told the British media outlet.

“During the second season of The Morning Show, Brad would go to the set and have lunch with Jen in her trailer. He would arrive and be taken directly to her trailer for a private lunch between the two, and then he would leave once Jen’s filming resumed,” they added.
According to the source, Brad would visit Jen in secret at least once a week; it seems their meeting was just for lunch, although later those meetings moved to Jennifer's residence.
“During that time, he was also spending time with her at her house. Jen and Brad saw each other several times, mainly at her house. They weren’t seen in public,” the informant detailed.
The Daily noted that the relationship between the two celebrities was merely a reconciliation and a good friendship, but not a romance or a continuation of what they had in the early 2000s, when they were the ideal couple in the Hollywood industry.
It is worth remembering that the actors were married between 2000 and 2005, but their relationship ended badly after it was revealed that Brad cheated on her with Angelina Jolie, his co-star in the movie Mr. & Mrs. Smith.
“A platonic relationship emerged. Nothing more. They had been through so much, both privately and publicly, that a romantic relationship would never have been an option,” the outlet cites, adding: “For Brad, there was no ulterior motive or expectation of rekindling their romance. More than anything, Brad missed having her as a trusted friend.”
Apparently, the meetings they held and their reconciliation were not enough to resume their romance, as shortly after, both began going on dates: Brad Pitt with businesswoman Inés de Ramon and Aniston with life coach Jim Curtis.
So far, it is known that the actors continue to stay in touch via text messages, although less frequently: “They still text each other from time to time, but that’s where their relationship stands. She likes that they have made peace,” the source noted.
