¿Cómo se tramita la visa americana de turista por primera vez?
Completa el Formulario DS-160
This is the first step of the process. The DS-160 form is filled out online and is essential because the information you provide will be evaluated by the consular officer. You must have a valid passport and provide personal, travel, employment, family, health, and security information. Upon completion, you will receive a barcode that will allow you to continue with the process.
Regístrate en el sitio del Servicio de Visas
With the DS-160 reference number, you must create an account on the United States Visa Service website. There, you can schedule your appointments and make the corresponding payment. You will receive a confirmation email when you create your account.
Realiza el pago de la visa
The cost of the B1/B2 visa is 185 dollars. For children under 15, there is a reduced fee of 15 dollars if the parent or guardian is Mexican and is applying for a visa at the same time or already has a valid visa. In that case, the child's visa will be valid for 10 years or until they turn 15, whichever comes first.
Now you can pay:
In cash at Scotiabank or BanBajío (Banco del Bajío) banks.
By an electronic transfer via the Interbank Electronic Payment System (SPEI) from any bank to BanBajío.
“If you choose to pay via SPEI transfer, you will receive the transfer instructions when scheduling your appointment. It’s an easier option without lines!”, they point out in an image published on Instagram.
To pay, create an account on the Official Visa Appointment Service page. Follow the website flow until you reach the “Payment” section.
Select “Payment.” It will give you the option to pay in cash or via interbank electronic transfer.
Download and print the slip for “Cash Payment” or follow the instructions for “Interbank Transfer.”
Schedule your appointments
Once the payment is made, you must schedule two appointments:
Appointment at the Applicant Service Center (CAS): Here they will take your photograph and fingerprints. It is not necessary to bring additional documents, only your passport and the DS-160 form confirmation.
Appointment at the Embassy or Consulate of the United States: This is the interview with the consular officer. You must bring your valid passport, the DS-160 confirmation page, the payment receipt, and any additional documents that support your application (such as proof of employment, income, property, etc.).
Acude al CAS
On the scheduled date, report to the corresponding CAS. This step is mandatory and must be completed at least 48 hours before the consular interview. Make sure to arrive early and follow the staff's instructions.
Asiste a tu entrevista consular
This is the most important step in the process. The consular officer will evaluate your application, your answers, and your documentation to determine if you qualify for the visa. It is essential to be honest, clear, and consistent with the information provided. The decision may be immediate or take a few days.
Recibe tu visa
If your visa is approved, it will be sent to the CAS, to the address you provided, or to a courier branch. Delivery time may vary, but it generally takes between 5 and 10 business days.
Now, shipping for the visa will be charged if the applicant wants it delivered to their home address or a DHL branch.
Applicants must pay 400 Mexican pesos for the delivery of their visa to a home address (provided it falls within the route). Or 320 Mexican pesos to have their document picked up at a DHL branch.
To receive their visa by courier, individuals must access their profile on the Department of State's Official Visa Appointment Service and select “premium delivery request”.
Payment will be made in cash at Scotiabank or BanBajío (Banco del Bajío) banks or via an SPEI transfer from any bank to BanBajío.
Visa delivery will be free of charge only if the applicant picks it up at the Applicant Service Centers (CAS), which are located in the following cities:
- Ciudad Juárez.
- Ciudad de México.
- Guadalajara.
- Hermosillo.
- Matamoros.
- Mérida .
