The United States, the United Kingdom, France, and many other countries in various parts of the world are issuing alerts to their citizens to prepare with supplies and shelter and emergency plans, but why? What is happening? Is a third world war coming?
Major world powers are issuing alerts and asking for a shelter plan to be in place in case of any crisis or catastrophe that puts people's lives at risk.
Not all countries involved in these alerts are talking about an official war so far; instead, they are referring to various scenarios that humanity could face at any time. However, it is known that the planet is on edge due to various geopolitical conflicts, such as the one in the Middle East, amid attacks, deaths, humanitarian crises, diseases, and more. These are some of the countries urging their citizens to prepare for the unimaginable.

United Kingdom
In recent days, announcements from governments in various parts of the planet have gone viral, issuing alerts and asking their citizens to have supplies for several days in the face of a possible crisis; the United Kingdom issued a notice asking people to fill their pantries with enough food for three days in case of a catastrophe or the failure of any basic systems.
Prime Minister Andy Burnham urged citizens to prepare in case of possible disruptions to essential services, within a worrying context due to weather events, cyberattacks, or other crises, without directly mentioning a war.
Burnham asked people to prepare with the essentials to face at least 3 days without electricity, water, telecommunications, or internet access; requested supplies should include bottled water, non-perishable food, flashlights, batteries, and money.
France
A few days ago, France asked people to have an emergency kit in case they need to evacuate quickly, as well as other basic necessities such as food, water, medicine, and cash.
The country considers the first 72 hours of any crisis to be a “decisive period”; during this time, people must be attentive to the news and obtain up-to-date information on what is happening in France and in the world.
Likewise, it asks citizens not to fall for rumors and misinformation; it also requests that they maintain communication with their families and collaborate with civil protection organizations.

United States
Dan Bongino, a former deputy director of the FBI, issued an urgent warning for Americans to prepare supplies in the face of a possible crisis. As he said in a notice, Americans should replicate what the United Kingdom and France are doing to protect themselves and survive for at least three days.
“Have an emergency radio, batteries, emergency food, a system to collect rainwater and filter it, and filter tablets,” he noted. “Get your stuff today, please. Do it for your family,” he warned.
In addition to this warning, the Pentagon revealed that it is preparing United States military bases so they can operate for at least 90 days without external support in case some type of emergency breaks out in the coming days.
Sean Parnell, a Pentagon spokesperson, said that the resistance plans will respond in case these conflicts cut off energy supplies or threaten critical infrastructure on U.S. soil. The alerts are part of Project Fortress, which seeks to ensure that the Armed Forces can continue operating in a world war even with deficiencies or a total cut in communications.
Germany
The German government asks people to stock up on provisions for 10 days with non-perishable food that does not require electricity for storage or preparation, at least 14 liters of water per person for each week, emergency kits, personal hygiene products, a radio, a first-aid kit with medicine, personal documents, and to have a safe place to take shelter.
“In the event of a serious, large-scale disaster, rescue teams cannot be everywhere. If you can help yourself and your neighbors, you will certainly have an advantage,” the German government's website notes in the disaster section.
Taiwan
On its website, the Taiwanese government issued a list of guidelines on what to do and how to react “when danger arises.” In the event of natural disasters, pandemics, extreme weather events, or threats of aggression “from China,” citizens should integrate shelter and survival plans and follow the following:
- Tener suministros domésticos diarios como alimentos para 7 días y alimentos
- Kit de refugio de emergencia con mochila de preparación para desastres
- Medicamentos
- Documentos personales
Nordic countries
The Nordic countries have reinforced their emergency plans since Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine in 2022, with recommendations for the population to be able to cope with interruptions to basic services, extreme weather events, or possible conflicts. Finland, Norway, Sweden, and Denmark advise keeping supplies for at least three days, including food, hygiene items, and alternative energy sources, without resorting to hoarding.
These nations also ask for home food crops, grain reserves, warm clothing, canned food, and other long-lasting food products that do not require refrigeration or special preparation.
Poland
In the guide issued by Poland, people are asked to take extreme precautions with an emergency kit, seven days' worth of food and drink, medicine, personal documents, and also to locate a safe place, prepare cash, have a radio and external batteries on hand, flashlights with spare batteries, water, and pet products, if applicable.
The alerts are focused on airstrikes, natural disasters, or any crisis that puts life at risk.
