Following Mexico's defeat to England in the round of 16 of the 2026 World Cup and after having been one of the most notable stars of the tournament, spoke about Javier Aguirre's decisions regarding taking him out of that game.

Weeks after the national team's progress was cut short in the World Cup, Quiñones stated that the head coach made a mistake by taking him out of the game when Mexico was losing and was securing its elimination.
