If you are planning to visit Canada this summer, this may help you save during your trip. The Canadian government confirmed the return of the Canada Strong Pass, a program that will allow free access to national parks, national historic sites, and national marine conservation areas managed by Parks Canada, from now until September 7, 2026.
The measure will be in effect from June 19 to September 7, 2026, and will benefit both Canadian residents and international tourists, who will be able to enter some of the country's most famous natural destinations at no cost, including Banff National Park, Jasper National Park, and the iconic Lake Louise area.
¿Qué incluye la entrada gratuita?
During the valid period of the Canada Strong Pass, visitors will not have to pay entry fees at:
- Parques nacionales administrados por Parks Canada.
- Sitios históricos nacionales.
- Áreas marinas nacionales de conservación.
- Esclusas ubicadas en canales históricos gestionados por Parks Canada.
The best part is that it will not be necessary to process any special pass or purchase tickets. Visitors will be able to enter sites open to the public directly within the established period.
Lo que no está incluido
Although admission will be free, some services will continue to charge their usual fees. Among them are:
- Campamentos y otros tipos de alojamiento.
- Reservaciones.
- Aguas termales de Radium, Miette y Upper Hot Springs de Banff.
- Amarres para embarcaciones.
- Visitas guiadas y excursiones especiales.
- Actividades operadas por terceros.
- Licencias de pesca.
- Venta de leña.
- Estacionamiento.
Special permits, such as those for research or drone use.
Authorities also reminded that the list may vary by destination, so they recommend checking the official information for the location before visiting.
Descuentos adicionales para los viajeros
In addition to free admission, the Canada Strong Pass includes a 25% discount on camping fees and some overnight stays within sites managed by Parks Canada during the same period.
This initiative seeks to encourage tourism and make it easier for more people to enjoy the country's most important natural and cultural spaces.
Banff y Jasper, entre los destinos más buscados
Two of the parks that generate the most interest among travelers are Banff National Park and Jasper National Park, both located in the province of Alberta and recognized for their stunning mountain scenery, turquoise lakes, trails, and wildlife.
The free admission coincides with the high summer season, when thousands of tourists arrive to tour places like Lake Louise, the Icefields Parkway, and other natural attractions in the Canadian Rockies.
Therefore, authorities recommend planning your trip in advance, booking transportation and accommodation with sufficient time, and considering the use of shuttle services to get around more comfortably in high-demand areas.
¿Dónde no aplica la entrada gratuita?
It is important to keep in mind that the benefit is only valid at sites managed by Parks Canada. It does not apply to:
Provincial or territorial parks.
Sépaq parks, in Quebec.
Municipal or private parks.
Historic sites not managed by Parks Canada.
Facilities operated by third parties.
¿Se necesita un pase especial?
No. During the period the program is in effect, it will not be necessary to show an annual pass or purchase entry tickets to access participating locations. Parks Canada staff will continue to welcome visitors at entrances and information centers.
For those with current annual passes, authorities noted that those affected by the free entry period will receive automatic validity extensions, with no need to carry out any additional procedures.
With this measure, Canada seeks to facilitate access to some of its most spectacular landscapes and make the summer of 2026 an ideal opportunity to discover iconic parks like Banff, Jasper, and many other natural destinations in the country.
