Vanessa Huppenkothen, a host for TUDN, experienced moments of panic and uncertainty while driving through the streets of after another driver would not let her pass.

As she documented on social media, she was driving on the night of August 19th on Ejército Nacional Avenue when another car got in her way: "This driver is acting crazy, let's see what he does; if he kills me, we already know it was this a**hole," she said in a video.

The episode of panic began when Huppenkothen noticed that the driver of a red truck, accompanied by another person, was signaling for her to pass. The journalist decided not to and slowed down to maintain distance, but the vehicle reportedly braked several times.

Faced with the situation, and the fear that she might be the victim of a crime in the middle of the avenue, Vanessa began to record and read the license plate of the unit out loud to have a record of what was happening.

The situation became even more tense when the truck changed lanes and subsequently stopped on the curb. One of the occupants of the red vehicle opened the back door without getting out, while Huppenkothen remained inside her car.

In the midst of the anguish she was experiencing, the sports journalist asked for help: "I'm alone, please help me. There is no patrol car, nothing." Shortly after, she asked for help from a Mexican Army vehicle that was passing through the area.

Hours later, the host deleted the video from her social media, but told her followers that she was safe and at home, thanked the users for their messages of support, and said that it was all just a scare.

Mexico City authorities are investigating the case

According to reports from the Secretariat of Citizen Security of Mexico City (SSC CDMX), Huppenkothen's incident will be investigated.

"Following the events documented in a video shared on social media, in which a vehicle allegedly involved in following a woman is observed, the SSC of CDMX took immediate actions for its search and location, starting from the registration of the license plates," the authority noted in a statement.

"Personnel from the SSC are performing an analysis of the images and carrying out the corresponding actions to identify the unit and the people who were traveling in it, with the objective of clarifying the facts and determining potential responsibilities," it added.

The case quickly generated speculation online, where some users suggested that it could have been an attempted robbery or even a possible case of 'montachoques' (staged traffic accidents). However, so far none of these hypotheses has been confirmed by the authorities.
