The president's niece recalled a family dynamic between her uncle and his eldest daughter, Ivanka Trump, that she found strange. What did she say? We will tell you everything below.
During an interview on the British podcast The Rest Is Politics, she asserted that the president had a peculiar bond with Ivanka as she grew up and shared memories of family gatherings that, from her perspective, made her uncomfortable.

“When Ivanka grew up, he developed a very peculiar attachment to her, but I can't say exactly that it was paternal,” Mary recalled in the interview.
“She would constantly sit on his lap and the truth is I don't know how to explain it, but I found it strange and unpleasant,” Mary stated while recalling Ivanka's behavior with her father. The president's niece noted that that scene was repeated during family gatherings and acknowledged that she never knew how to interpret such closeness.
Mary went further by describing the bond between Donald and Ivanka as a “very peculiar attachment.” According to her words, she did not know if it could be considered a paternal relationship in the usual terms.
Mary Trump recalls uncomfortable comments about Ivanka's beauty
Mary Trump's statements have reignited media attention regarding several comments Donald Trump made in 2004 and 2006 regarding his eldest daughter, one of them during an appearance on the show The View.
When responding to a hypothetical question about whether Ivanka would pose for Playboy magazine, the then-businessman denied she would do so and spoke about her appearance, hinting that he would be open to the possibility of dating her if she were not his daughter.
“I don't think Ivanka would do that, although she does have a very nice figure,” Trump responded, adding: “I've said that if Ivanka weren't my daughter, perhaps I'd date her.”
The phrase has been brought up for years in public discussions about the way Trump referred to her and the close relationship that both have and display in public.
At the time, a spokesperson told the Associated Press (AP) that the president's statements regarding his daughter and the insinuation of a relationship were a “joke” with which he himself was poking fun at his tendency to date women much younger than him.
In addition to his interview on The View, Trump made similar statements about his daughter and her attractiveness on other programs, one of them with Howard Stern.
