The sensation surrounding Gilberto Mora, the 17-year-old star of the Mexican National Team, has crossed borders, and now his talent is in the sights of English football… and even the world of entertainment.
After news broke that clubs like Arsenal and Liverpool are considering signing him, following his standout performance in the 2026 World Cup, the player attracted the attention of an actress from the series Bridgerton, who invited him to accept one of those signings.
Michelle Mao, who played Rosamund Li in the fourth season of Netflix's Bridgerton, commented on a post in which Morita thanked everyone for the support received during the Mexican National Team's participation in the 2026 Cup.
“Thank you, Mexico. My biggest dream come true, thank you for all your support. ‘God’s timing is perfect’,” wrote the Mexican soccer prospect in an Instagram post where he added photographs of his highlights with the Mexican National Team before being eliminated by England.

In response, with a simple yet catchy phrase, Mao invited him to go to Liverpool, one of the great Premier League clubs that wants him in its ranks once he comes of age.
“Come to Liverpool,” the actress wrote. After her comment went viral, internet users began to link them sentimentally, suggesting that her admiration for the Xolos de Tijuana star could move beyond social media into something more romantic.
Users also said her proposal and the romantic interpretations were out of line since Mora is 17 and she is 29: “You could be his mother, weirdo,” “Leave him alone, he’s a kid,” “What’s wrong with you? What’s up with your invitation?”, “You’re stalking him,” “He’s 17 and you’re almost 30, leave him alone.”
Other comments pointed out that Michelle’s invitation was not made with personal intentions, but that she was simply urging him to accept a contract with the club: “She didn't say anything bad to him, she told him to go to Liverpool because of the recent rumors that the English club wants to buy him.”
Liverpool, Arsenal y otros gigantes europeos quieren a Mora
Gil Mora is reportedly being watched by some of the most important clubs in English and Spanish football.
According to detailed information from the football site Team Talk, which specializes in revealing signings within the international football industry, Arsenal is working on a potential signing of Morita, even though he has a current contract with Xolos de Tijuana. Apparently, the club is willing to pay what is necessary for the Mexican team to let him go before his contract ends in 2029.
But that would not be the only offer for Gil; Team Talk claims that Liverpool has already been in contact with Mora and his representation team to reach a future agreement.
“According to some sources from the Premier League contingent, Liverpool is 'very interested' and has already made contact with them to establish the terms of the agreement, as well as the wishes of Mora himself,” says the outlet.
For now, Mora cannot sign any contract with foreign teams until he turns 18, which will happen on October 14, 2026, as established by FIFA rules.
It is estimated that the young Mexican has a value of up to 45 million dollars, which has been fluctuating during his participation in the 2026 World Cup and the plays he made for the Mexican National Team that helped them advance to the round of 16.
