The 2026 World Cup final brought many international controversies and scandals, several of them focused on the Argentine national team and its fans. On social media, for insulting Mexicans and mocking the Mexican National Team for not reaching the quarterfinals.

Laura Villa, better known in the Mexican entertainment industry as Lau Styling, became a trending topic on social media after starring in a major controversy due to statements against Mexicans following the World Cup final, in which Spain won its second cup.

What did she say? First, the stylist was cancelled for saying: "All Mexicans: 'Spain won.' But were you in the final? You didn't even make it to the fourth, son of a b*tch, now you're dancing to what folklore is, go on," she said in her post.

Following these comments, internet users made a second video go viral which she had set to private, where she stated that Mexicans have "resentment" towards , "a hatred" that she is fed up with, and she again mocked the national team for not reaching the quarterfinals.

"Truth be told, Mexicans have a resentment towards us (...) I didn't know you hated us so much (...) You didn't make it to the quarterfinals, so you can suck it because I'm sick of you. I swear I'm outraged because it can't be that you're so Latino and you support Spain."

She added that the Mexicans who did not support Argentina are "pieces of sh*t": "What makes me laugh the most is that those who mock Argentina don't even make it to the quarterfinals or the round of 16, so there's no reason to celebrate like that, because we Argentines are happy, we were in the final (...) But that's the kind of Latin people who don't support other Latinos, they are pieces of sh*t."

But the controversy didn't just stay with her words; after going viral, Mexican netizens attacked her, calling her "ungrateful," "mediocre," and "unknown" for attacking Mexicans when she "lives and works" for them and when she is a migrant who had to leave "in order to eat" and have a "life she will never have" in her own country.

Tras la funa, Lau Styling niega la agresión y discurso de odio

After criticizing and attacking Mexicans, and even being accused of spreading hate speech and xenophobia, the stylist was forced to address the massive backlash she was receiving and claimed she regretted the impact of her words in both videos, saying they were taken out of context.

While she did not offer a direct apology, the Argentine stated that her intention was never to be disrespectful or promote hate speech and said she would accept the consequences of her words.

"I love Mexico, it is my second country. What's more, when Mexico lost, I felt terrible because I feel like it's my second home (...) Football generates passion, opinions, but to say that I hate Mexicans is a huge leap. That never happened and it never will," she said without literally apologizing.

Users on social media have demanded that figures like Lau Villa be deported from the country for attacking Mexicans and their culture; they are also calling for the "cancellation" of the stylist, saying that she should not be given any more work in Mexico.

"What is an Argentine doing working in Mexico if we have plenty of talent here? Why hasn't anyone deported her?", "We don't need xenophobes in Mexico, Sheinbaum, pay attention here, we ask that they remove her from the country", "Madam PRESIDENT SHEINBAUM, Secretary of the INTERIOR! The People of Mexico DEMAND that you DEPORT this SCUM, this worthless trash. They come to work in our country and mock us. And we repeat, we DEMAND that this TYPE OF PERSON gets out of my Country NOW", "Why do we open our doors to these unknown, mediocre people? They should go back to their country to starve to death, that's the least they deserve."
